Overview

This continuing education (CE) activity is designed to address practice gaps related to the interpretation and application of recently updated inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) guidelines. Rapid advancements in treatment strategies, including the expanded role and earlier use of biologic therapies, have created a need for clinicians to stay current with evolving recommendations.

This activity will provide a comprehensive review of updated guideline recommendations, with an emphasis on evidence-based treatment selection, timing of therapy initiation, and optimization of biologic agents. Participants will gain practical insights to support clinical decision-making and improve alignment with current standards of care.

This program will be delivered as a recorded presentation, it will be accessible from this page and links will be sent to registrants.

Target Audience

Pharmacists in all practice settings.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, pharmacists will be able to: 

  • Summarize major updates in recent IBD clinical guidelines in comparison to older guideline recommendations
  • Evaluate patient-specific factors that guide selection of induction and maintenance therapies
  • Identify safety considerations and monitoring parameter for guideline-recommended therapies
  • Describe how to develop evidence-based treatment plans using updated clinical guideline recommendations

Morgan Felitte, PharmD, is a PGY-2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Resident at Brown University Health. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Rhode Island in May 2024 and subsequently completed her PGY-1 residency at the Brown University Health Specialty Pharmacy Community-Based Program in June 2025. Dr. Felitte has a strong clinical interest in inflammatory disease states, with a particular focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Following completion of her PGY-2 residency, she plans to transition into a clinical specialist role dedicated to the management of patients with inflammatory conditions.

Completion of the online modules and program evaluations are required to earn credit. No partial credit is available for this program. Evaluations must be completed at www.uripharmacycpd.org within 60 days.
