The URI Police Department would like to commend the hard work of our community outreach unit and partners.
Recognizing an increase in homelessness affecting veterans in Rhode Island, Corporal Paul Hanrahan, a veteran of the US Air Force, Public Safety Executive Assistant Christin Readey, and Community Outreach and Education Coordinator Shawn Miner worked with leadership from Ocean State Job Lot to provide supplies for our veterans in need.
Thanks to the generosity of URI Greek Life and Ocean State Job Lot, Corporal Hanrahan was able to assemble 100 buckets filled with winter clothing, coats, and toiletry items. Products included sweatshirts, gloves, hats, hand warmers, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and other items. In addition, Ocean State Job Lot donated 192 winter coats. These buckets and coats continue to be distributed to homeless veterans throughout the state. Great work!
