The PSC recently welcomed two scholars from Hong Kong to give presentations on cutting edge research projects. Dr. Jiangnan Zhu, from the University of Hong Kong, shared research from her new Cambridge University Press book on corruption and political selection in China, exploring how corruption shapes political advancement and access to power.

PhD student, Yifei Zhu, introduced exciting new work at the intersection of AI, computational social science, and political science. His talk, “Agentic Framework for Political Biography Extraction,” showed how AI can turn large amounts of unstructured political biographies into usable data for research—a great example of how new technologies are reshaping the way we do political science. His paper is currently under review at the American Journal of Political Science (AJPS), a top PSC journal.
