The Pre-Health Professions Advising Program supports students and recent alumni with planning and preparing to apply for admission to health profession training programs that require a college degree. We help you develop an individualized plan consisting of the courses required for admission, find hands-on experiences in your intended field, and build the competencies you’ll need to be a health care provider.
Individualized Support
You can major in almost anything when you join the Pre-Health Program. Our Pre-Health Advisors will help you:
- Plan appropriate academic programs.
- Acquire the necessary interviewing and writing skills.
- Develop a personal and academic profile that will be attractive to professional schools.
- Establish a dossier to be used in support of your applications for admission.
You can also get help from our Pre-Health Ambassadors–peer advisors who can provide advice from an experienced student’s perspective.
How it works
The very first step once you matriculate at URI is to register with the Pre-Health Professions Advising Program. After that, you can meet with a pre-health advisor and plan to attend our informational meetings and events.
Make your plan
In your first or second year, you’ll identify the program that will best match your goals. We’ll help connect you to the information and advising resources you’ll need, understand the requirements, and lay the foundation for becoming competitive applicant.
