Richard’s Advice: Be proactive! There is more to this school than meets the eye. There are endless opportunities not only at URI but in the surrounding area, but you will have to put yourself out there in order to find them. There are so many things I wouldn’t have known about at URI if I weren’t proactive in seeking them out. Dream big. Picture your ideal self at the end of the four years and what path you want to follow, and don’t stop working until you get there! And last, but not least, please have fun! You can work hard and play hard too. College is a time to explore yourself, have fun and make life-long friends and memories. As long as you stay disciplined and on top of your studies, it is totally possible to get A’s and have a social life. It is going to be the best time of your life, so make the most of it!
