Biography

Dr. McAlister received her Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures with a concentration in Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2023. She specializes in nineteenth-century literature from Spain with an emphasis on Romanticism. Dr. McAlister’s research focuses on literary and artistic representations of architectural ruins, archaeology and monument restoration. Her teaching interests include beginner, intermediate and advanced Spanish language-acquisition courses, Spanish for Medicine and Business, literary and cultural analysis and beginner-level Portuguese language and culture. Outside of the classroom she enjoys dance and Zumba, baking and watching college basketball.
