Kara Pavone

Biography

Dr. Kara J. Pavone earned her Ph.D. in Nursing Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the faculty at URI, she served on faculty at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, for four years. Dr. Pavone’s research focuses on evaluating and managing pain in individuals with opioid use disorder, studying the development of postoperative cognitive dysfunction, and addressing the needs of older adult patients in critical care settings. She enjoys teaching research methods through the implementation of interactive learning strategies. She strives to create an engaging educational environment where students can effectively grasp and apply research principles. Beyond her academic pursuits, she finds joy in baking, reading, and spending time outdoors.
