Alana Egan

Biography

Alana is a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program under the mentorship of Dr. Nichea Spillane. She graduated with her BA in Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and earned her Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Prior to matriculation at the University of Rhode Island, she worked as a counselor intern for NASA Johnson Space Center’s Employee Assistance Program. He Hawaiʻi ʻo ʻĀlana, mau a mau.

Research

Alana’s research interests include investigating substance use and suicide health disparities in service of Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Indigenous populations. Alana is particularly interested in using qualitative and mixed methods in her program of research.
