Biography
Ben is an incoming postdoctoral fellow in the STRESS Lab. He will receive his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, following completion of his clinical internship at VA Central Western Massachusetts Health Care System.
Research
Ben’s research interests include risk and protective factors that contribute to posttrauma reckless and self-destructive behaviors (RSDBs) commonly associated with posttraumatic stress disorder and related comorbidities (e.g., substance use disorder, borderline personality disorder). He is particularly interested in transdiagnostic mechanisms, such as emotion dysregulation, that underlie RSDBs among adults with histories of chronic interpersonal trauma (e.g., childhood abuse) and traumatic invalidation (e.g., sexual orientation-related victimization). His work aims to inform applied research with these underserved populations.
