Alyssa Behuniak

Biography

 Alyssa is a first year doctoral student in URI’s clinical psychology program, concentrating on neuropsychology. She graduated from Marist University in 2025 with a degree in psychology, criminal justice, and cognitive science. Prior to graduating, Alyssa worked as a research assistant in Marist’s Cognitive Neuropsychology Lab, and as a summer research intern in the Cognitive Neuroscience of Affect, Memories, and Stress Lab at Yale University. In her free time, she enjoys playing pickleball and tennis, working out, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends.

Research

Alyssa’s research interests involve evaluating cognitive functioning in pediatric patients with traumatic brain injuries and severe neurological disorders. Specifically, she seeks to understand how memory and attention are affected by differing socio-cultural populations and degrees of head trauma
