Pediatric and Adolescent Anxiety Lab

Overview

The Pediatric and Adolescent Anxiety Laboratory (PAALs) is directed by Dr. Flannery-Schroeder in the Department of Psychology at the University of Rhode Island. PAALs’ primary research interests involve the nature of anxiety disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults as well as the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral treatment and prevention programs for youth at risk for anxiety. Additional lines of research involve parenting practices and their role in the development of anxiety and depressive disorders, the negative effects of child maltreatment and trauma as well as the importance of dissemination of preventative strategies to encourage the development of mental health and wellness. Most recently, our lab has studied the effects of the pandemic on mental health in late adolescents and young adults.
