Biography
Diana is a fourth year student in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at the University of Rhode Island with a focus in Research Methodology and Multicultural Psychology. She graduated with a B.S. in Psychobiology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2018. Upon graduation, Diana worked as a clinical research coordinator at the UCLA Addictions Lab under Dr. Lara Ray on multiple large-scale clinical trials examining the efficacy of current and novel pharmacotherapies for alcohol use disorder and smoking cessation.
Research
Diana’s research interests are on the etiology, maintenance, and intervention of substance use and related harms. She is particularly interested in how culturally-relevant factors (e.g., one’s racialized identity, acculturative stress, generational status) impact substance use in marginalized populations. She is also passionate about increasing research efforts in examining substance use behaviors among populations underrepresented in research (e.g., Asian Americans).
