Kathryn “Kat” Quina received the 2025 Heritage Award from the Society for the Psychology of Women (Division 35) at APA in Denver, CO. This Career Award is given annually to “an individual who has made distinguished, substantial and long-standing feminist contributions to women and gender’” the selection committee acknowledged the depth and breadth of her contributions in theory/research, teaching/mentoring; and service.

Kat retired from URI in 2016 as Emerita Professor of Psychology and Gender & Women’s Studies and Emerita Associate Dean of Continuing Education. Active in APA for 50 years, she has edited the Division 35 Feminist Psychologist newsletter, created their CE programming, and founded and moderated the first Psychology of Women Resource listserv; she continues to serve on various committees. For Division 35’s sister organization, the Association for Women in Psychology, she served on the Implementation Collective and coordinated four national conferences in Rhode Island. Her scholarly work includes seven books and numerous other publications and presentations addressing sequelae of sexual assault and trauma, including HIV risk and incarceration; career strategies for academics; and teaching psychology from multicultural and intersectional perspectives. She has received AWP’s Distinguished Publication Award, the Christine Ladd-Franklin Award for service; Florence Denmark Mentoring Award, and the Doris Howard Lifetime Service Award; and she was named an Elder by the National Multicultural Conference and Summit.
