Shane Denherder

Biography

Shane is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Clinical Psychology program. Prior to coming to URI, Shane worked as a research assistant at the Child Adaptation and Neurodevelopment Laboratory and served as a Lab Manager at the Immersive Neuromodulation and Neuroimaging Laboratory at the University of Utah. Shane earned a dual B.S. in Psychology and Philosophy of Science from the University of Utah in 2023.

Research

Shane’s research focuses on understanding the role of epigenetic processes in development, particularly in explaining how parenting practices and family processes influence emotion regulation. Additionally, Shane is interested in exploring the impact of screen time and social media on social development during childhood and adolescence.
