Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Training

All personnel (faculty, staff, students, and external personnel) who interact with animals for research and teaching purposes must complete required training courses, attend a facility orientation (if applicable), and enroll in the Research Occupational Health Program. In addition, all personnel must be listed on an approved IACUC protocol.

Training must be completed before commencing research activities and every three (3) years thereafter.

CITI Training

Most animal subjects research training is provided via the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program. See URI CITI Guidance for information about creating an account and adding and completing courses.

Brightspace Online Training

The Zoonotic Diseases training course is required for personnel working with wildlife and farm animals and is available via Brightspace. Register on the EHS training registration page.

Facility Orientation

All personnel who work in the CBRC animal facilities must attend a mandatory facility orientation and tour. Facility orientation sessions are offered on an as-needed basis. Contact gwencurrier@uri.edu for more information.
