Overview

The Comparative Biology Resources Center (CBRC) at URI is fully committed to the judicious and humane care and use of animals in research and teaching. The CBRC supports URI laboratory animal research through the provision of animal management and veterinary care and assures institutional compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and policies. The CBRC is responsible for animal procurement; animal husbandry; veterinary care including health surveillance, preventative medicine programs, animal quarantine, personnel training, and special technical support; and maintenance of animal facilities and equipment.

Space Allocation

If your department is recruiting a new faculty member who will conduct research with animals that uses CBRC facilities, please check in with the Office of Research Integrity (ORI) before the hiring process is complete. In addition, current animal users should also check in with ORI before planning novel animal research projects. This notification will allow CBRC staff to determine whether we can accommodate the researcher’s needs while maintaining fairness for existing animal users. Please note that given our current space constraints, we may not be able to accommodate all requests.
