Research Security Training
As of January 15, 2026, all federal proposals routed through InfoEd require Research Security Training. This applies to all URI Lead PIs and their Key Personnel that receive Federal Funding, and includes, but is not limited to: federal awards, flowthroughs, and subawards.
Access Research Security Training
Research Security training is provided by CITI and available to all URI faculty, staff, and students.

Export Control Training
PIs, key personnel, and anyone working with controlled or sensitive research must complete Export Control Training.
All NSF participants are required to take Export Control training based on the new RCR requirement: Important Notice No. 149: Updates to NSF Research Security Policies.
Access Export Control Training
Export Control training is provided by CITI and available to all URI faculty, staff, and students.

Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Training
Department of Defense (DoD) Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) training is mandatory for all URI personnel with access to controlled unclassified information. Annual refresher training is also required for continued access to CUI.

CUI training is provided by DoD and available to all URI faculty, staff, and students.

Record Keeping Notification
All individuals are required to keep a record of their Research Security, Export Control, and CUI training. The federal government will NOT maintain training records. You must save and maintain a copy of your records and provide them upon request.
