Training on Conflicts of Interest and Commitment in Research is required for anyone responsible for the design, conduct, or reporting of research at the URI — including principal investigators, project directors, consultants, graduate students, and others — who receives and / or proposes to receive funding from external sources. Training must be completed prior to submission of the grant proposal and at least every two years thereafter. Additionally, investigators must renew their training if (1) the Policies on Financial Conflict of Interest in Research and Conflict of Commitment in Research are substantively amended or (2) it is determined that an Investigator has not complied with the policies or with a management plan related to their research.

Subrecipients 

Training requirements for externally-funded research pass down to subrecipient organizations. If appropriate training is not available to subrecipient personnel through their home organization, they may access the training through the URI CITI account.
