The major goal of the Collaborative Research (CR) funding mechanism is to promote research collaborations between early-career tenure-track faculty at the Primarily Undergraduate Institutions (PUIs) and established investigators at URI or Brown. By partnering established investigators with PUI investigators, we aim to enhance the level of mentorship, thereby accelerating research productivity and increasing the level of preparedness of the PUI investigators for submitting competitive independent or collaborative research proposals, e.g. NIH R15 or NSF RUI/ROA applications. The CR research team will propose a collaborative research project in the RI-INBRE thematic areas of cancer, neuroscience, or environmental health sciences. PUI investigators must have a commitment of 50% release time (equivalent to 6.0 person-months) for the conduct of CR research. CR projects are typically funded for a 2-year period. Calls for proposals will be announced in the fall semester.
