The Rhode Island Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium (RI-SURS) was held on Friday, July 28th. Opening remarks were given by University of Rhode Island President Marc Parlange, Roger Williams University’s Provost Margaret Everett, and URI’s Interim Vice President of Research, Dr. Bethany Jenkins.
More than 140 undergraduate students from our network institutions across the state presented 119 scientific research posters at Avedisian Hall and the Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering. Students were represented from RI-INBRE SURF, SURF+, and Bridge to Graduate School programs, and the University of Rhode Island’s MARC U*STAR, and Science and Engineering programs.

Attendees included friends and family, faculty mentors, and staff from across the state and the University of Rhode Island, Brown University, Bryant University, Community College of Rhode Island, Providence College, Rhode Island College, Roger Williams University, and Salve Regina University.
The event culminates the 2023 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program that began on May 22nd. Over 120 students were supported by RI-INBRE and participated in undergraduate research across the state in our network institutions.
