This two-day course, designed by the American Institute for Biological Sciences, will provide participants with the skills required to become effective members of scientific teams.

Who can attend
This event is free and open to all. First priority will be given to RI C-AIM participants. Early career faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and research associates are highly encouraged. PIs interested in sending a team should contact RI C-AIM Project Administrator Sally J. Beauman at sbeauman@uri.edu to discuss availability. There is a 30-person limit for attendees of the workshop.
Registrants are expected to attend both days of the workshop.

What participants will learn
- Explain interdisciplinary team science and characteristics of effective scientific teams
- Recognize competencies and characteristics of effective team leadership
- Create effective team culture, communication and trust
- Develop a shared vision, mission, plan, and key performance indicators for a scientific team
- Identify and assess the right mix of competencies and people needed for a scientific team
- Use team tools and processes such as quality improvement cycle and knowledge mapping
