Project Description
This project is only available to SURF Flex applicants and is limited to the first 5-weeks of the 2022 summer SURF program. In this project we will use a wide variety of photographic platforms including the use of drones, remotely operated vehicles, 6K video cameras, macro-lenses, as well as light, fluorescent, confocal, and electron microscopes to image and record the multitude of marine organisms of Narragansett Bay. These organisms range from small single celled organisms found in plankton tows to marine invertebrates and fishes. Images will be used to build a website and videos used in documentary footage of the Bay. Most of this work will be done in the laboratory setting on the Providence College campus, however the project will include a few field trips to collect marine life from the Narragansett Bay environment.
