Message from Shaun Kirby, SURF mentor

For 10 weeks, Deelia dove into the challenging world of science journalism. Disseminating complex scientific concepts into compelling narratives for non-expert audiences is not easy, yet these five pieces are a testament to Deelia’s dedication and creativity in telling important stories of her undergraduate peers tackling research for the first time. From background study and interviewing to the editing and rewriting process, Deelia remained diligent and positive throughout. I am proud to share this work with the RI C-AIM community. Enjoy!
