Project Description

In my lab, we are working to develop fluorescence based sensing platforms for phosphate and nitrate. To date, our focus has mainly been on using low cost, fluorescent, carbon nanodots for these methods. Work in the group involves the preparation of carbon nanodots, assessing the functional groups on the surface of the nanodots, and crafting methods using these carbon nanodots to measure phosphate or nitrate in laboratory experiments which we hope lead to simple “dip-stick” sensors.
