The University Archives is the legal repository for all University Records. The records consist of:

  • Non-current historical records and printed material generated by the University in the conduct of its official business
  • Papers of faculty and staff
  • Committee files
  • Records of official and unofficial student organizations
  • Photographs

Printed materials in the archives include:

  • Yearbooks
  • Student newspapers
  • University, college, and departmental publications
  • Directories
  • SET’s (Student Evaluation of Teaching)

The official copy of all URI theses and dissertations are also housed in the archives. (Duplicate copies, which are cataloged and circulate, are in the general book collection.)

Indexes and finding aids describing the records and papers are kept in the Unit. Electronic versions of selected finding aids are linked to this web site.
