The Rhode Island Book Collection contains books, printed materials, maps, and atlases which specifically document Rhode Island history. Most of the items in the collections are monographs, although there are also periodicals, maps, tax books, directories, state publications (published prior to 1900), and early Rhode Island almanacs. All the materials are cataloged and can be located in the ExLibris with the designation URI RI Collection before the call number. Materials in the Rhode Island Collection do not circulate.

Permission may be granted to obtain copies of items in the collections. A fee is charged for this service and the copying is performed by the staff.
Care must be exercised at all times when handling materials. Consuming food or beverages, smoking/vaping, and the use of pens are not permitted.
