Cortney M. Nicolato

Cortney M. Nicolato, ’01 is an executive leader with two decades of marketing and business strategy experience in nonprofit management, healthcare, and healthcare IT. Cortney is president and CEO of United Way of Rhode Island, a nonprofit agency with more than 60 employees and an operating budget of $18.6M. United Way of Rhode Island invests in proven programs that address community issues in order to strengthen Rhode Island. Last year, they awarded $6.5M to 72 nonprofit agencies in support of programs for childhood literacy, workforce development, and more. Prior to United Way, Cortney held several high level management positions, each building upon the effectiveness of her transformational leadership style. Most recently, she served as president and CEO of The Senior Source, the largest nonprofit agency for seniors in North Texas. Her previous experience also includes being Senior Advisor, Director of New Business Initiatives at the National Center of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. From the beginning of her career, Cortney’s focus has been on serving the community. This commitment allowed her to effectively lead dedicated teams and improve the lives of individuals and families across the nation. Cortney is a member of Forbes Magazine’s Nonprofit Council. When she’s not working, Cortney enjoys volunteering with her husband David, and their two sons, Jacob and Ian. Outside of being with her family, she enjoys training for triathlons.
