Matthew Lenz ’11 serves as Senior Director of State Advocacy for BSA | The Software Alliance. In this role, he leads BSA’s state advocacy program and drives engagement with state elected officials on important software policy issues related to strong consumer data protection, modernizing government IT, maintaining a thoughtful and risk-based approach to AI, and strengthening cybersecurity.

Before joining BSA, Matthew served as Director of State Government Affairs for the Entertainment Software Association and as Director of State Government Affairs for the Toy Association. In addition to his time in the private sector, Matthew previously worked as a Senior Policy Advisor for the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Rhode Island. He is appointed from the list submitted by the President of the Senate.
