Joseph G. Formicola, Jr., ’69, has deep roots in Rhode Island and is a dedicated
supporter of the University of Rhode Island. With a career spanning over five
decades in the real estate industry, he has been deeply involved in brokering,
developing, and constructing real estate projects throughout the United States.
Mr. Formicola is the President/CEO of Executive Investments and Realty Company
and is a co-owner of the well-known Coast Guard House restaurant in Narragansett,
RI. Joe has made significant contributions throughout his extensive involvement
with the University. A graduate of the School of Business, he served on the
Executive Committee of the URI Foundation Board for nearly 24 years from 1989
to 2013.
Additionally, Mr. Formicola held the position of President of the URI Athletic
Association and played an important role as the chairman of the Major Donor
Committee, helping secure private funding for the Ryan Center. Beyond his
contributions to the University, he was the founder of the Narragansett
Chamber of Commerce, twice elected as its President, and is presently the
longest standing member of the Narragansett Lion’s Club. Joe was Chairman
for the Blessing of the Fleet for six consecutive years and has chaired
campaigns for his community including the Narragansett “Towers”, Heart Fund,
Cancer Fund, United Way, and Meeting Street School together with many other
philanthropic causes.
