Robert Weygand, ‘71, ’76, M.A. ’09, M.P.A. ’10, is a former United States congressman and was Rhode Island’s 65th lieutenant governor. He previously served as vice president and chief financial officer at the University of Rhode Island, was a member of the faculty in the Department of Political Science and director of the Master of Public Administration program teaching public policy, ethics and the Congress. Prior to URI, Weygand was the president and CEO of the New England Board of Higher Education in Boston and has served as vice president of College Unbound in Providence.
Weygand is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island where he earned four degrees, BFA, BS, MA and MPA, and was inducted into the URI College of Engineering Hall of Fame. He is a professional landscape architect and has been inducted a Fellow in the American Society of Landscape Architects which has recognized him for exceptional national leadership to the profession. He has served on many non-profit boards and commissions and is a recipient of numerous public service awards.
