Funding is available to support your independent project!
URI’s Office of the Undergraduate Research provides grant support for undergraduate research, creative, and artistic projects. This program supplies funds to undergraduate students who participate in original research or creative or artistic projects of their own design. These projects require supervision by a faculty sponsor.
Funding ranges from up to $1,000 for an individual project, up to $1,200 for two students, and up to $1,400 for a three-student team. A project team cannot be more than three students. All undergraduate students in good standing are eligible. This includes both full-time and part-time students. Funding will be awarded to students with quality projects representing a wide range of diversity and variety of disciplines within the University. Proposals are competitively reviewed by a faculty panel, composed of faculty from various disciplines.
URI’s Office of the Undergraduate Research invites applications for undergraduate project grants each semester, with funding available to students in the following semester. To apply for a grant, a student (or group of up to three students) must complete an application and submit a project description and budget, along with a letter of support from a faculty sponsor. Please refer to the grant application process for more detailed terms and instructions.
