Given the current circumstances, URI has collaborated with both the Army and Air National Guard regarding a process for obtaining signed STAP waivers and getting them to the schools – electronically.

State Tuition Assistance Program (STAP)
The RI National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program (STAP) provides a tuition waiver for current National Guard members at RI’s public colleges and universities.
Services
- Up to five tuition free classes per (fall or spring) semester at RI’s public colleges and universities.
- Fees and books must be paid by the military member.
- The waiver can be used in conjunction with GI Bill®.
Eligibility
- Army and Air National Guard service members (enlisted and officer) who are pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Masters Degree from CCRI, RIC, and URI.
- Service members must be in good standing and not be flagged for adverse action.
- Guard members must have one year military commitment at end of class for every 12 credits.
- Guard member’s ETS must be after end of class date.
Online STAP Waiver Process:
- Student must register for classes first
- Contact your Education Liaison below for the (online) Fillable STAP Waiver
- Complete the Fillable STAP Waiver form
- You will list your classes for the upcoming semester
- ** Please include your URI ID #on the STAP form
- Submit completed form to ANG or ARNG Education Liaison
- Education Liaison will digitally sign on their end and send back to the student
- You will then send the signed form to: nationalguard-group@uri.edu
