Writing Across URI will offer a Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Seminar in Spring 2024.
- Are you often frustrated by student writing?
- Do you want to ask more of your students as writers?
- Do you want students to write more but dread the time you’ll spend on grading?
- Are you unsure of the kind of writing activities that would fit your course?
- Do you want to propose a Write Effectively course for the general education program?
If you answered YES to one or more of these, the Writing Across the Curriculum Seminar is for you.
This seminar explores strategies and practices any faculty member can use to help their students develop as writers. Participants will design a new writing assignment that includes scaffolding and peer review opportunities. Personal consultations will be held throughout the seminar to further support this design work. Upon completion, participants receive $300 in summer re-contracting or professional development funds.
The seminar will run from 2:00-3:15 pm on the Wednesday dates listed below.
