Human Development and Family Science, B.S.

This major prepares you to work with children, families, adolescents, and adults in a variety of human service and community settings. You will choose from a variety of professional preparation concentrations and certificate options including Child and Family Development, Counseling and Social Services, and Health and Aging Services. HDF offers course substitutions with other majors to help streamline the double major process and make it possible to complete both majors in 4 years.

Major Entry Requirements

  • Complete 24 units with a minimum GPA of 2.00 or higher
  • Complete HDF 200 or 201 and complete courses meeting each of the following General Education requirements: (A2) Social and Behavioral Sciences, (B1) Write Effectively, and earn an average of at least 2.00 in these (three) courses
  • Complete URI 101
