    Marissa Pereira, ENRE ‘16
Ethan Rix, Business & Marketing ‘15

In collaboration with the RI Office of Energy Resources and National Grid, the URI Energy Fellows contributed to a three year, $700,000 grant funded by the Department of Energy: the RI Public Energy Partnership (RIPEP). Energy Fellows collected and analyzed data for Rhode Island public buildings to prioritize locations for energy efficiency retrofits. The team also met with representatives to understand and communicate barriers to energy efficiency.

Energy Education and Extension Team, URI Outreach Center

    Angela Tuoni, ENRE ‘16
    Josh Watkinson, ENRE ‘16

The energy education and extension team developed creative and effective ways to educate the community on sustainable energy topics. During their internships the team hosted a Home Energy School at the University of Rhode Island to teach the community about residential energy efficiency and conservation. They also hosted a Renewable Energy School, to educate the community about residential alternative energy. Last but not least, they helped host Sustainability Week, which engaged the URI community in various sustainability efforts.

    Ocean State Clean Cities (OSCC)

    OC_4-nJustin Venturini, ENRE ‘15

Justin worked under the Ocean State Clean Cities Coalition, which has goals of reducing the amount of carbon emissions released from the transportation sector. Justin helped design, plan and facilitate stakeholder meetings, keep up with OSCC social media accounts, design emails and launched an anti-idling campaign on the URI campus.

Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources (RIOER), Providence, RI

Lafleche Giasson, Writing & Rhetoric ‘15
    Becca Trietch, MESM ‘15

Lafleche Giasson-Lafleche worked on Improving the security, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of Rhode Island’s present and future energy use that is dependent on the residents, businesses, and municipalities being aware of and participating in the data-driven policies and programs that Office of Energy Resources develops and regulates. As the communications intern at OER, she worked to create that essential bridge between relevant science and wide-spread application. She had taken a central role in producing a suite of electronic and printed information collateral that reaches, informs, and engages those who can benefit from the material it presents.

Becca Trietch- At the OER, Becca helped to develop an energy efficiency program for Rhode Island farms. This program will be run through National Grid and aims to reduce the energy usage and financial burden on local farms.
