FY12 Annual Report: Dean’s Message

Welcome to a college of big thinkers. Every day, students and faculty at the College of Engineering undertake research that shapes the world around us. Ray Wright

In Fiscal Year 2012, our students and faculty left their mark on society. Our faculty won grants supporting 74 research projects. Their research led to patents and added to the more than 30 companies that started from innovation at the College of Engineering.
Our diverse student body interned at more than 100 companies and universities and studied in no fewer than six countries.

The academic talent of 326 of our undergraduate students earned them prestigious University Scholarships or Centennial Scholarships. Separately, about 155 undergraduate and graduate students received scholarships from college endowments.

While we celebrate the successes of Fiscal Year 2012, we also look to the future. The college has commissioned its first Master Plan in 50 years. The plan will chart a course that keeps the college competitive, innovative and transformative. I look forward to sharing the plan in future reports.

Sincerely,
Dean Raymond M. Wright, Ph.D., P.E.
