MAF Professor and RI Sea Grant Director Dennis Nixon co-hosted the launch of the RI Shellfish Initiative on Monday April 24. Members of Rhode Island’s congressional delegation, Gov. Gina Raimondo, two university presidents, and many agency officials, researchers, and industry representatives were in attendance at the event at the University of Rhode Island.
The Rhode Island Shellfish Initiative is a partnership that brings together state agencies, industry, academia, and community partners to further efforts to sustainably manage local shellfish stock, promote economic growth and jobs, and celebrate Rhode Island’s unique food cultures.
