MAF students present at Society for Human Ecology

Three MAF Masters’ students, Hilary Lohmann, Lena Weis and Maria Vasta and one undergraduate MAF major, Julia Bancroft, recently presented their research at the XX International Conference of the Society for Human Ecology  which took place in Bar Harbor, ME, from October 22 – 25.  Hilary gave a talk based on her thesis research in the Dominican Republic examining vulnerability and resilience of direct and indirect marine resource users facing future climate change.  Lena presented a poster about her thesis research examining recreational fishermen’s participation in fish tagging programs in Massachusetts.  Maria also presented a poster about her thesis research investigating what factors motivate and prevent shellfish growers to offer tourism on their farms.  Julia presented her Coastal Fellowship poster examining how people use Rhode Island’s coastal salt ponds.
