Malala – 1 Year Since Shooting

October 9 marks the one year anniversary of the Taliban’s attempted assassination of Malala Yousafzai, the young teenager in Pakistan who spoke out for education. After months of recovery she spoke to the UN Youth Assembly on her 16th birthday, July 12, 2013. Her courage and commitment for education for all young people across the globe have inspired nations.

She said, “I dont want revenge on the Taliban, I want education for sons and daughters of the Taliban.” Malala was nominated for the Novel Peace Prize and was honored in 2012 as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.
