(Level I – 2016)
My name is Nancy. I question what peace might be by writing my stories and creating performance installations of being a woman, being of Korean immigrants, being full of fear, anger, violence, courage, love and joy. These stories reveal glimmering strands in the web of my family and my intimate relationships, of unity, and conflict. My project is to politicize the personal, make connections between personal trauma with institutional sickness. The question most important to me is, how do I grow like a precious sapling from waste and mud? Every day, I enjoy testing my capacity for strength and compassionate action, through presence and in every moment.
