URI joins the United Nations and the world in supporting International Day of Peace. On Thursday, September 18, URI will celebrate Peace Day on the Quad with music, information and a lot of fun. Stop by to create a peace flag, make giant peace bubbles, hula hoop for peace, and many other activities.
Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981, “Peace Day” is an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date.
When millions of people in all parts of the world come together for one day of peace, the impact is immense and does make a difference.
Peace Day is also a day of ceasefire—personal or political. Take the opportunity to make peace in your own relationships.
