The Center and Strike a Chord Student Organization rocked out on Saturday, 4/25/14 for a music-filled fundraiser to help the children in Nepal whose parents are incarcerated. The Early Childhood Development Center gives shelter, food, education, health care, and most of all LOVE to 45 children who would otherwise be living behind bars. We raised approximately $350. to send to Pushpa Basnet and the ECDC to help support these precious children. Many thanks to everyone who came out and played guitar, sang, danced, and just had a great time!
Several bands and solo acts entertained the crowd in the Student Center Atrium I. The music ranged from folk to pop to blues, all wonderful in each genre. Performing were Al Olsen, Public Alley, The Sharp Dressed Band, The Stilts, Nick Bottai. Ending the evening was the crowd-pleasing Spencer Soucy. What talent we have on campus!
Strike a Chord URI is a non-profit organization with the mission of bringing together music and philanthropy through benefit concerts and charity events. Their first fundraiser last year gave needed aide to a cancer victim. Their next campaign will be in the Fall. Strike a Chord, we think you’re awesome!
