URI Day of PEACE! Sept. 18th, 2014

International Day of Peace
was a great success this year. Hundreds of students joined us on the Quad on September 18th to learn about this important world-wide event that millions of people around the globe participate in every year. Students made Peace Flags and Hula Hooped for Peace while listening to Members of URI Strike-a-Chord Club play a great variety of peaceful songs. The Center’s Ukelele Peace Jam attracted peace lovers and Uke players from all around Rhode Island. Music played by the Uke Orchestra was widely received and was a great addition to this year’s Peace Day activities. A candlelight vigil was also held to honor all victims of violence and to promote a peaceful world. Hundreds of students participated in this year’s International Day of Peace Celebration and made peace with someone.
