MPA Program

Admission

graduate with hands raised at commencement

Our successful applicants come from a wide variety of professional backgrounds and applicants who are seeking to enter a professional career. Admission to the MPA program is based on a review of your academic transcripts and letters of recommendation. We also accept the GRE, GMAT, or MAT to support admission to the MPA program, but we do not require the exams for students with over a 3.0 GPA, having significant professional experience, or for applicants holding an advanced degree.

To submit an online application to the program, go to the URI Graduate School Admission page where you will apply through the GradCAS system. Learn here whether you qualify for an application fee waiver.

Once admitted, MPA students can finish the degree within 18-36 months, depending on whether the student is enrolled either part-time (less than 9 credits) or full-time (9-15 credits). Some students choose to make progress toward their degrees by taking courses during J-Term and during the Summer Session.
