Admission to the program is based on your interest in the field of public administration, scholastic record, professional letters of recommendation, and performance on one of the GRE, GMAT, or MAT. The entrance exam is waived if you hold an advanced degree, including the J.D. The URI Feinstein College of Continuing Education offers test preparation workshops for each of these exams.
Individuals who work in government occupations at all levels, or in nonprofit agencies and organizations, are encouraged to apply, as are all who are considering a career in government and nonprofit service.
To submit an online application to the program, go to www.uri.edu/gsadmis.
Once admitted, most part-time MPA students can finish the degree within 24-36 months. Full-time students can complete the degree with 18 months. Part-time students pay the applicable URI College of Continuing Education graduate tuition and fees on a course by course basis. For courses taken at Rhode Island College students pay the applicable RIC graduate tuition and fees. For full time students the full-time URI tuition and fees are charged unless the student is taking a RIC course. Limited financial aid is available.
Students at Rhode Island College can participate in that institution’s cooperative BA/MPA Program. For more information go to http://www.ric.edu/politicalScience/.
