The purpose of record books:
4-H Record Books serve a variety of purposes in the Rhode Island 4-H Youth Development Program.
- 4-H Record Books give members an opportunity to reflect on their yearly work. They document their skill development, achievement, growth and their learning experiences in a written report.
- 4-H Record Books encourage members to set goals and develop plans to meet those goals. Awards for record books provide incentive for participation, learning, and achievement.
- Recording and completing records teaches youth how to complete written forms and present their data in an accurate, clear way.
- Serves as a repository for youth to look back on their years of community service, mastery of skills, and leadership when they are applying for jobs or college!
