Biography
As Assistant Director of the Academic Enhancement Center at the University of Rhode Island, Heather Price (she/her) oversees the Undergraduate Writing Center and the Academic Coaching program. She hires, trains, and supervises an amazing team of peer writing consultants, academic coaches, and front desk reception staff; facilitates training and professional development; and collaborates with campus partners to provide writing and academic skills support to undergraduate students across URI.
In addition to teaching CSV 302: AEC Academic Coaching Practicum every year as the mechanism for recruiting and training peer academic coaches, she has also been known to instruct UCS 305 and UCS 160 during the academic year, and UCS 160 for the Talent Development Summer Success Program. She previously taught WRT 353: Writing Center Theory and Practice as the model for training peer consultants at the Undergraduate Writing Center. Heather also has experience teaching URI courses WRT 104 in the Department of Public and Professional Writing, and URI 101 for incoming 1st year students.
Before joining the AEC in 2016, Heather taught courses in the Creative Writing department at Roger Williams University, tutored as a Writing Specialist in the Bryant University Writing Center, and served as Coordinator of URI’s International Engineering Program. She holds a B.A. in Writing & Psychology from Loyola University Maryland, M.A. degrees in Fiction and Poetry from the Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University, and an M.F.A. in Poetry from The Ohio State University.
Heather is a member the URI Writing Award committee, and currently holds the position of Rhode Island Representative for the Northeast Writing Center Association (NEWCA).
