Why did you choose URI?
I chose URI for multiple reasons. When I toured the campus, I immediately felt at home. The atmosphere felt like exactly what I was looking for in a school. Another reason was the wide variety of programs they offer. I would be able to explore a variety of avenues and find one that would fit me the best.

What will you miss most?
I will miss the people I’ve met at URI the most, from lifelong friends, coworkers, and professors; I have met many amazing people who have helped me and encouraged me throughout my four years here to become the best version of myself.

Why did you choose Barcelona, Spain?
I chose to study abroad in Barcelona because the program they offer, which is affiliated with URI, would allow me to study Spanish while exploring the city’s rich history and culture.

How has studying abroad influenced your career goals or future plans?
Studying abroad has opened a whole new world for me regarding what I want to do. Before studying there, I was unsure about my plans, but studying there made me realize how much I want to continue traveling and connecting with people worldwide for work.

How did you handle adapting to a new environment?
Adapting to a new environment was a little tricky; during orientation, they talked about the stages we might go through when adjusting to living there and the ups and downs we may face. I felt a bit homesick at first, but I found my place in time. Plus, there was so much to look forward to and explore every day that kept me distracted for the most part.

What was the most memorable experience during your time abroad?
My most memorable experience abroad was solo traveling to Kraków, Poland, or visiting Marrakesh, Morocco, with my friends. I had always wanted to visit these places and was very fortunate to have the opportunity to explore them.

What lessons have you learned from abroad that you plan to apply moving forward?
I learned so much abroad, but the most impactful lesson was how to quickly and efficiently adapt to new environments while trusting my gut and letting things happen. Not everything will always go as planned, but the ability to be adaptive and keep a positive outlook will be something I will apply moving forward in my career and life.

What advice would you give to someone who is planning to study abroad?
My advice to anyone planning to study abroad is to say yes to everything. It is an amazing opportunity, and with any big adventure, it may be stressful at times, but do your best to take it all in and enjoy yourself.
