Physics major Oliver Carey ‘23 interned at the UMASS-URI Gravity Research Consortium.
“Being a recipient of the A&S Internship Fund has given me the opportunity to pursue my interests in a way that will shape my future,” he says. “I have been able to participate in an internship that addresses precisely the research I plan to continue into higher education. The funds have also been applied to associated material costs which add up quickly. For example, due to the computational nature of modern radio and x-ray astronomy, our group requires modes of data storage in the form of external hard drives with storage capabilities on the order of terabytes.”
Oliver was recently accepted to a Research Experience for Undergraduates program; he will be doing astrophysics research at the Sapienza University of Rome this summer. Read more about him here.
