Jena Panas ‘22, a double major in gender and women’s studies and marine affairs, interned at Save the Bay, Narragansett Bay.
“It’s been great to get hands-on experience with an organization that shares the same passion for the environment that I do,” she says. “One highlight has been going to the Newport Exploration Center on the weekends to educate guests about local marine life. I get to work at the touch tanks and show people of all ages what is in our waters and why we should care about them. Planning and facilitating beach cleanups has also been fun, as it’s something where you can see your hard work come to fruition. This internship experience is one I will look back on fondly and I am so thankful to have had this opportunity.”
