This academic year, the University of Rhode Island Center for the Humanities will focus its third annual lecture series on the contributions of environmental humanities scholars – such as environmental historians, literary scholars, writers, and musicians – to highlight the role of the humanities in understanding and addressing some of the most important issues we face.

Chasing Awe and Wonder

An assistant professor of journalism at the Harrington School of Communication and Media, Jason Jaacks researches coastal resilience, microplastics pollution, sustainability, and science communication. He has worked for National Geographic, Discovery Digital, PBS Digital Studios, The New York Times, and the Tribeca Film Institute, among other media outlets.
